Good Seed to a good Earth. Aleš Pařízek, Jiljí Jais and their prayer books from the beginning of 19th century
Abstract: This essay deals with the prayer books taken as the literary piece and also the source for understanding gender and everyday life in the 19th century. Two interesting prayer books from the beginning of the 19th century are here in the center of our interest, and both of them were used in the Czech context. First of them was translated from German language and its author was Jiljí Jais. Here I wanted especially to point out various “pastoral advises” for men. Second one, by the priest Aleš Pařízek, represents the group of prayer books produced originally in Czech language and from this book I pointed out various prayers meant for women and how we can see the everyday life through them.
